Q. Why should I choose The K9 Basic School to train my dog?

A. The K9 Basic School has a 98% success rate. This is because we have an outstanding team of trainers including show judges, obedience and field trial competitors and show exhibitors. In addition, they all LOVE dogs. We provide personalized services that are tailored to your dog. In addition, we guarantee our work. If after working with your dog we feel that we are not going to be able to maintain our high standards, we will let you know. At that point you are welcome to come pick up your dog and we will not charge you. If we are unable to demonstrate what your dog has been trained to do, we won't charge you. We maintain open and honest relationships with our customers, and we take the time to answer all of your questions.

Q. How does the residential dog training course work?

A. Our dog training course is an intensive 3 week course during which your dog will learn obedience here at our facility. Once you have booked with us, one of our trainers will contact you to determine the best drop off date for your dog. When you arrive we will show you our facilities, introduce you to your staff, and show you where your dog will be staying. We will then meet your dog and take some information from you about your dog's temperament and any problems you are having.

We will then take your dog to get settled in to his/her kennel and get started. We will update you regularly during the training program to let you know how your dog is doing and how he or she is progressing.

When you come back to pick up your dog we will demonstrate what your dog has learned while he has been with us. Then we will teach you how to handle your dog and how to maintain the level of obedience that your dog has learned while with us. We will provide you with a program to follow over the following weeks to maintain what your dog has learned.

If you have any questions once you return home, please give us a call, we are here to help!

Q. Will you be able to train my dog?

A. We can train most dogs. Our success rate is 98% which makes us confident that we can train your dog.

Q. Are there any dogs that are you unable to train?

A. The only dogs that we are unable to train are those that are very aggressive towards people and are unapproachable, despite our best efforts to befriend them. We find that we can overcome problems with most dogs, but if for some reason, we are unable to connect with your dog, we will contact you as soon as possible to decide what course of action to take. If you come to pick up your dog, there will be no charge.

Q. Will I be able to handle and control my dog once they have been trained?

A. Once your dog is trained, you will find it easy to handle and control them. When you come to pick up your dog we will give you one-on-one training on all of the commands. When you return home, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you carefully follow all of the instructions we give you. You will need to continue to use the commands with your dog once you return home so that they will continue to remember and obey them. We provide on-going support to all of our clients and will answer any questions you have, even once you have returned home.

Q. Why should I train my dog?

A. If you are like most pet-owners, your dog is a member of your family. It is important to make sure that this particular member of the family can interact well with people and with other animals. A well-trained dog is much more pleasurable to be around. We will teach you how to look at things from the dogs point of view and really understand your dog. Training cannot only make your dog easier to deal with, but can enhance your relationship with your dog.

Q. Will you keep me updated on how my dog is progressing?

A. Yes. During the course we keep you updated on how your dog is settling in and then how the training is going. We will most often communicate by e-mail, but can also call if e-mail is not convenient for you.
